I live very close within 20 minutes of Plum Island. I nor any other local people have become ill or died of rare diseases from Plum Island. This story if true is greatly exagerated.

I do agree that the island purpose is moot seeing that the research is not as vital as it was once thought to be during the 1950s, when there was a breakout of livestock foot/mouth disease in Mexico. The research can easily be conducted in a mainland laboratory under current laboratory safety controls, saving the taxpayers MILLIONS of dollars of operation cost to run the island.
It is truly a hoax to transport via ferry hundreds of government workers back and forth everyday to the island to conduct the research basically a negligible inane disease (There has never been a break-out of foot-mouth disease on US mainland soilsever). The Island purely exists to supply job to government workers. Know that armed guards are running around patrolling the island under homeland security makes the facility a bigger joke.
I have worked for the private engineering firm that has designed all of the USDA Laboratory up-grades for the past 20 years. I have been on every square inch of the island and have seen spaces dating back to the Fort Terry conception of Plum Island. It was my job to assess all island structures history for contamination (chemical and biological), to include laboratory 257. The short answer to Mr. Carrolls entire report/book is bogus and fictional from cover to cover.

I got the book Lab 257 at the library. It is a great read. I couldn’t pull myself away. It is a MUST read. They are looking for a place to put a new lab. North Carolina and Georgia are 2 out of 3 or 4 places they are considering. If you don’t pass it on, and they move near your family, you will regret not spreading the word. Peace-Out.
