No discussion of resorptive lesions– probably the number 1 reason for feline tooth loss. Periodically, as the cat allows, it’s good to GENTLY touch suspicious areas or areas where teeth are missing with a SOFT Q tip and watch for jaw quivering or signs of pain. If pain is noted, have the cat’s mouth checked by a vet dentist, preferably while the cat is sedated, and take X rays to check for tooth remnants under the gum; remove them if found, and the pain will stop. Fillings WON’T work!
